In February of 1967, Nina Simone had a mental breakdown while on tour with Bill Cosby. In April of the same year, after a brief rest, she and her highly volatile and notoriously abusive husband/manager, Andy Stroud, headed back on the road for a short tour of the UK. She was joined by activist/comedian Dick Gregory, a new father and fresh from his mayoral bid in Chicago against democratic machine boss Richard J. Daley.

With the civil rights movement at a crossroads and the seemingly never-ending war in Vietnam, the two icons debate the future of an ever-changing world and their place in it.

Portia will play Nina Simone

Russell G. Jones will play Dick Gregory.

Writer/Director SaMi Chester steers the ship.
